The NC State Bass Fishing team, better known as the “Basspack”, competed in its second club tournament of the season on Oct. 27 at Lake Norman.

This was a big fall tournament for the team as Lake Norman is the biggest man-made lake in the state of North Carolina. Lake Norman was created between 1959 and 1964 with the construction of Cowans Ford Dam by Duke Energy.  Lake Norman is a spot where big fish can be caught, and NC State had to strategize where on the lake the big ones would be that day.  After not competing competitively since Sept. 15, the Basspack did not look rusty at all in the way its members performed. NC State swept the top three places at the tournament.

Coming in first place was Logan Anderson who reeled in 8.01 pounds of fish. Next up for the Basspack in second place was Jacob Moore with 7.14 pounds and in third place was Hunter Lloyd with 6.30 pounds. The Basspack also had members of its club, go down a day early on Saturday and serve as volunteer captains for a high school tournament in the area. The Basspack will look to continue its success in its last tournament of the fall on Nov. 23 at Roanoke River.
